What can I expect at a meeting?: How the meetings are conducted
All Toastmasters Clubs are composed of three primary parts:
Tabletopics (or impromptu speaking), prepared speeches, and evaluations. The only variation is in which order they occur in meetings. Gilbert's meetings are run as follows:

Opening

Pledge, reading of mission statement, President's remarks, introduction of guests, Toastmaster's remarks, introduction of the evening's functionaries.

Tabletopics

Topicmaster asks prepared questions to random individuals. The goal with Tabletopics is to learn to think on our feet and speak extemporaneously for one and a half to two minutes. Guests will be given the opportunity to answer a question, but need not feel obligated to participate.
Prepared Speeches

Typically we have three speakers per meeting. Speakers have different objectives, depending on out of which manual they are working.
Evaluations

The emcee of this section of the meeting is the General Evaluator. The GE calls upon the evaulators (one for each prepared speech) to present his/her oral evaluation which is in addition to a written evaluation. The goal in this section is for the speaker to find out what his/her strengths are and areas where improvement is needed. GE also gives out awards.
Closing

Guest remarks, review of following week's schedule, Club business, President's closing remarks.
