How Members Can Contribute to Smooth Club Operations
(1/3/09)

Here are some ways individual members can contribute to the smooth operations of Gilbert Toastmasters in 2009:

  • Keep the VPE (Liz) informed about your availability status. If there are dates you know you will have to miss, let Liz know as far in advance as possible. If you will be available only temporarily, let her know so that you can make the most of the time you are available.
  • Also keep Liz informed if you are close to achieving an educational award. If you have just a couple of speeches left, or if you have nearly all of your CL manual filled out, let her know so that she can ensure you are scheduled for the functions that will get you to your next award as efficiently as possible.
  • Try to contact individuals, rather than automatically sending out a group email when you need a replacement. Pick a few individuals to contact who are not already scheduled for that particular evening. Please contact the On the Spot Speakers first to find a replacement speaker before sending a request to the YahooGroups address. You can also solicit confirmations from the functionaries individually rather than through the group email. Or if you really want to add that personal touch… pick up the phone and dial.
  • Please contact me, Liz, or any of the officers if you feel your needs are not being met by the club. We will chat with you and try to make some adjustments to help you reach your goals.

Having just attended TLI, I can safely claim that OUR CLUB TOTALLY ROCKS! Following the above points will make our well-oiled machine work even more smoothly.
