New Year's Resolution: 3 Out of 4... or More!
(12/15/09)

Whether you make them or not or like me had learned years ago not to bother, the time for New Year’s Resolutions is almost upon us. It is a time that tends to be busy for the Toastmasters organization. Many people resolve to work to improve their communication and leadership skills at this time and seek out a Toastmasters club.

My own personal resolution is to help support and build up another club in our Area G3 (and so it falls under my care as Area Governor), that unfortunately meets at the same day and time as our club. For the first half of the next year then, I’ll be scarce at Gilbert but I will still be a highly committed and regularly attending Toastmaster. I want to challenge you to do the same with your commitment to regular club attendance – the first promise you made when you became a Toastmaster.

Toastmasters is a self-paced program – you get out of it what you put into it. As we enter the new year, I want to challenge you to put more into it. I want to challenge you to commit to attending 3 out of 4 (or more!) club meetings a month. The club will benefit from your commitment in amazing ways, but more importantly, you will benefit. You will have weekly opportunities to speak in some form or another, continue practicing your leadership skills, and challenging yourself in new ways. Give it a try and see how you grow. If you don’t see yourself growing, let me know and we’ll brainstorm together.
